In doing research, one would find that timing belt longevity has certainly not been an issue among the many Ford 1.6 / 1.5 applications using the BIO (Belt In Oil) technology. That with many millions of vehicle units and many, many, millions of miles accumulated among them.

The material costs for a new cambelt, tensioner and idler pulley will only be around £70 – £180. What makes the cambelt change so expensive is the labour cost, as it is a comparatively complex and time-consuming job. The average labour cost will range around £220 – £550. Below is a cost example for a Ford Focus. Here are some of the most common warning signs of a bad timing belt on the Ford Focus: 1. Engine Won’t Start. If your Focus’s timing chain or belt has fallen off completely, broken, or has jumped a few teeth, it is entirely possible that the engine won’t even start. While the cost of having your timing belt replaced can be a bit of a shock, it’s a lot cheaper than having to replace your engine due to a failure. The average timing belt replacement cost starts around the $500 mark and can increase to over $1500 if removal of other engine components is required to gain access to the timing belt. The average timing belt replacement cost for a smaller car can range from $ 300 – $ 500 while a larger SUV or minivan will cost on average $ 700. On the highest end of the spectrum, you might need to pay $ 1,000 to have your timing belt serviced. You can refer to your vehicle’s handbook to find out whether or not your engine has a timing belt or a timing chain. Many popular UK models feature a timing chain instead of a timing belt. These include: Audi A3 & A4; All BMWs since 1993; Citroen C1, C3 & DS3; Dacia Sandero; Ford Fiesta & Focus; Honda Jazz & Civic; Hyundai i10, i20 & i30; Kia
